In my prior blog post I went through my work biography in some detail for those who do not know who I am and what I have done in the area of data warehousing.
As far as public figures in our industry go?
Now that Bill Inmon has moved on to textual E T L, now that Ralph Kimball has retired, and now that Sean Kelly has passed all be it far too young?
I am pretty much the oldest public voice of data warehousing at sixty one years of age.
One other public figure that has been around longer than me is Bill Schmarzo, the dean of big data.
I recommend you follow him and listen to him because he knows what he is talking about.
If I had not been woke cancelled in two thousand and eleven I would likely be much better known.
But in the last seventeen years I have saved the lives of many men, women and children.
My own personal position is that I value the lives of men, women and children, and saving their lives, over how many people know me on the internet.
Call me crazy.
Even so?
There is no money in saving peoples lives.
For some reason, despite the fact everyone agrees that life is precious, I get paid more for selling Hershey bars to fat kids than I get paid for saving thousands of peoples lives.
If I could get paid for saving peoples lives I would have made my money by doing that.
But I don’t get paid for saving peoples lives.
So now I have to do something that I will get paid for.
And the best thing I can do that I will get paid for is building data warehouses.
And the primary use of the data warehouses I build is to sell more products and services to the customers of my customers.
By helping my customers sell more products and services to their customers?
My customers are willing to give me a fair and just share of their extra profit.
When that profit is in the millions, tens of millions or hundreds of millions of dollars?
I get pretty well paid.
And that is what I plan to do in the future to earn the money to pay off the debts I incurred when I was busy saving the lives of men, women and children, and being politically persecuted for doing so.
Now.
Just to make things clear in this blog post.
My customers are not those people who want to get into data warehousing at the entry level.
Those people can download all my freebies and learn a great deal from them and good luck to them.
They are not my prospective customers.
In my own name?
I do hope that companies will start to realise that all the slander out there about me is exactly that, slander.
I hope that some consumer sales style companies will download see T L and use it to their advantage.
Those companies might get my partners to do some work for them.
My proposed customers are described as follows.
My proposed customers are consulting companies where the senior people know and understand data warehousing very well.
These will generally be consulting companies who are already doing data warehouse implementations and who already have a customer base of at least five solid customers up to many solid customers.
This is because it takes having at least five solid customers and doing their ongoing support before you start to see how inefficient some of the E T L tools are and before you start to see how inefficient it is to design data models from scratch.
Ideally I would like the key people in the companies who want to talk to me to have been in data warehousing for fifteen years or longer.
I want to talk to data warehousing experts who run their own consulting companies.
Who want to grow their companies.
Who want to improve the quality of their products and services.
Who want to beat out the competition.
Those are the number one prospective customers I want to talk to.
If you fit that description?
I would love you to please download my see T L software and B I four ALL Base models and take a look around.
I know any small data warehousing consulting company can make more profit using see T L and B I four ALL than not using it.
I know this because I did it myself.
There is one other kind of prospective customer I would like to talk with, and that is men who are salesmen.
But I will address you later.
Any man who is running his own data warehousing business can download all my freebies and he can see for himself that these freebies will help him make more margin on his deals and perhaps help him make more deals.
And you are welcome to have all those things for free.
You are welcome to use them as you like.
And when you want my time?
Please just ask for it and please offer to pay me for my time.
That’s fair.
For those men who do that?
You will soon come to understand the whole concept of mega models.
In my opinion, and I am almost always right on these matters, mega models are the way of the future.
I am working on a number of mega models.
If I work for the next 10 years or so I figure I will work on four mega models.
It might be that I will only ever work on two mega models.
The reason I say four is that I am working on the development of two new mega models.
And I already have the models for Oracle applications and the Single View telco system from my previous work.
So it would not be hard for me to build a mega model for Oracle Applications and Single View.
It might be hard to sell them, that’s all.
So, I have a problem and an opportunity.
And this creates a win win situation to work with other men who are at the top of this field in terms of data model development.
Men running their own company and at the top of this field in data model development could create mega models for large operational systems that they have deep knowledge of.
It turns out that the major barrier to entry now for developing a mega model is the time it takes to gain the knowledge of the large operational system for which you want to build the mega model.
With newer versions of see T L the data model and E T L development time is reduced even more than with the free versions.
So consider this.
If a man is running his own data warehousing company.
And he has excellent knowledge of at least one very large operational system.
Perhaps he has some installed accounts that uses a large operational system.
And perhaps his company supports the data warehouses for those companies.
He is now in a position to build a mega model for that large operational system using see T L and the B I four all models.
The revenues that could be generated by selling the usage and support of such a mega model dwarf the revenue that can be earned by selling project after project.
This is a win win situation.
Said man who runs this company can create his own product centred around his extensive knowledge of a large operational system that is commonly used and sell the usage and support of that mega model.
This will place him in an almost unbeatable position when selling data warehousing to companies using that large operational system.
In return?
Said man would pay me for customized versions of see T L and the data models.
Said man would pay me for my time in support of his customers.
Said man could pay me up front so my share is a known cost, or he can pay me a percentage of revenues earned using my software for as long as it is used.
Meaning that after I die those fees will be due to whoever takes over my business.
No one else as a set of products like see T L and B I four ALL that can be used to build mega models at anything like the price point that we can build mega models.
Using vendor E T L tools means spending four to five times as much money on E T L development and support as is now spent on see T L.
Any man with ten to fifteen years experience, who goes through how see T L works in generating E T L, can quickly see for himself why it is now so productive.
Those are the men I would like to talk to.
Those are my prospective customers.
I would also like to make one more point about this in this blog post.
Because I have been so widely slandered for so long it has been very hard for me to get work.
A part of the value to me in making this offer is this.
If I can get a number of men, say ten or twelve, who are also creating mega models for large operational systems that they have long term experience with?
Then there is no way for anyone to know which Mega Models are the mega models I am working on compared to what mega models are being developed by other men.
So a part of the value for me is that it’s hard to tell which tree is my tree in the forest.
If there are ten to twenty mega models out there doing data warehousing?
Then my partners selling my mega models have plausible deniability that they have no relationship with me.
Because that is of value to me my asking price will be less for those men who are the early adopters of mega models.
They will be helping me create the forest of mega models.
Once mega models are proven and more and more men start building them?
My price for my support will go up because those men are not particularly helping me create a forest for me to blend in with. The first ten to twenty products are important.
The ten or twenty mega models after that add marginal value to me so my discount for that value will decrease.
So.
If you are a man who has ten to fifteen years experience in data warehousing and dimensional data models?
If you run your own business?
If you would like to have mega models to sell?
If you have looked over see T L and the B I four all models and you understand them?
I would really like to talk with you about how you can increase your revenue by using my software and ideas.
Lastly, I said that there is another group of men who I would like to talk with.
These are men who are salesmen.
You may have sold data warehousing, or you may have little to no knowledge of how to sell data warehousing.
If you are a killer salesman?
If you want a product suite to add to your portfolio where you will be paid fair and reasonable commissions?
I am also interested in talking with salesmen.
Because many of my partners will have suites of products that they are going to sell in the future (as of the date of writing) and they will pay fair commissions to salesmen who sell their products.
I can’t say much more about this in the public.
But if you are a salesman?
You can rest assured that there is an opportunity to earn commissions on products coming that will be excellent products.
